In 1915, Carter G. Woodson started the Association for the Study of Negro (now African American) Life and History. He is quoted as saying, “If a race has no history, if it has no worthwhile tradition, it becomes a negligible factor in thought of the world, and it stands in danger of being exterminated.”

More than eighty years later, the Idaho Black History Museum (IBHM) opened its doors to the public. Since its founding, IBHM has been committed to educating the public on the contributions of African Americans, by preserving and documenting the rich history and legacy of African Americans in Idaho and throughout the world.

IBHM hosts periodic events to further this education, many of which are free to
current museum members. Details about future events will be coming soon. If you’d like to become a member and help further the mission of the museum, please complete the form below or contact the museum at 208-433-0017 or info@ibhm.org.
